July 2008 Teaching Newsletter

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

This Ministry Teaching Newsletter is in response to many ministers from around the world writing to us asking for relationship and input. Every month we are going to write a short message designed to build you up, to strengthen the gift of God within you, and to encourage you to fulfill the vision God has placed in your heart.

In my June email to you, I mentioned the expression “Apostolic Oversight.” That can be defined on several levels. The most basic is an apostle watching out for other leaders. It is relationship based more than it is organizational based. It is fatherly care.

Please read II Corinthians 1:24 (NIV), “Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, because it is by faith you stand firm” and hear the heart of the Apostle Paul. His desire is to help, to assist, to come along side the church. This expresses our apostolic heart for you; not to control but to work with you so that you are standing firm in the faith for the ultimate purpose of seeing the Kingdom of God advance.

An apostle is designed to establish ministry and ministers. See Ephesians 2:20-22 (NIV) “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone. In Him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit”. Only you can do the work of ministry in your local area. If we can help you by building you up spiritually, then we are working as a team to fulfill your vision. Nothing would please us more than knowing you are blessed and are successful at doing what the Lord has asked you to do.

If you have questions or specific prayer requests, please be free to email us.

For the Kingdom,

Dr. Jim Burbank
